Novemberfestivalen
Trollhättan
The Novemberfestivalen (November Festival) is Sweden’s national platform for young filmmakers. The festival serves as a unique annual meeting place where filmmakers and audiences can share experiences, express opinions, and forge new connections across age groups and regions.
The festival features screenings of competing films, seminars, face-to-face meetings with prominent film personalities, and celebrations—especially at the closing awards ceremony where both the November Festival and our partners present prizes and honors.
The November Festival is preceded by 19 regional selections across the country, and the competition represents the national “final.” During the festival’s two days, around 45 of Sweden’s best short films made by young filmmakers are screened. Films competing nationally in the classes middleweight (ages 16–19) and heavyweight (ages 20–26) must follow the national rules and are judged by a qualified jury.
The November Festival works closely with the film industry and participates in international networks with other festivals and forums for young filmmakers.
The November Festival is organized by N3 Meeting Place for Young Culture, Trollhättan City, with support from the Swedish Film Institute, Västra Götaland Region, and Folkets Hus Kulturhuset.
