Basta Kvarn is located directly beside the rushing waters of the River Ätran, where in good weather you can eat and relax outdoors on one of the green islands, beautifully linked by small bridges. Homemade pastries and sandwiches, salads, pies, ice cream and lunches are served – with specialities that include waffles and Skagen toast, the mill’s special prawn sandwich, and its delicious pear pie. The coffee is always newly ground, and the calming view across the pond attracts families with children, cyclists, walkers, and motorbike enthusiasts throughout the spring and summer.
Feed the trout and idle away the time in an 19th century mill
The café is located in the old 19th century mill with its formidable roof beams made of beautiful pine, thick stone walls, and weathered mortar that take you on a journey back in time. On grey, cloudy days, you can eat inside the old mill – the perfect place for a break for anyone walking the Redväg Trail or cycling along the Ätradal Trail. Directly beside the water wheel and the mill pond you can feed the rainbow trout that have been placed there. Fish food is available for purchase in the mill.
