Fall market in Ed

In spring and autumn, there is a market in Ed, and it’s a real community celebration. Traffic through the town centre is closed off and the whole town fills with people eager to shop. Hundreds of stallholders from all over Sweden and thousands of visitors come here.

October 10th in central Ed

The market is a tradition that has been running in modern times since 8 October 1949. 

Today, it is one of western Sweden’s largest markets, a huge public festival where you can find bargains amongst the offers from both the stallholders and the local shopkeepers, buy lottery tickets, eat good food and drink coffee. For the children, there is pony riding and lots of other fun activities.

The market also has great social significance. It is where you meet old acquaintances – a weekend when many with roots in Ed return home. The festivities in Ed continue well into the night.
