Ulricehamn

Small, proud and different

Welcome to a town with something just for you, where nature and urban life coexist side by side. A small town and a community that has found its true identity and the courage to look at itself objectively; to see the benefits of being able to offer something intimate, beautiful, serene and timeless. A town that understands the benefits of being small and finding its niche. Get better acquainted with the small town with the big opportunities. Get to know Ulricehamn.

Charming Ulricehamn

Located in West Sweden’s inland, between Borås and Jönköping, Ulricehamn is part of the textile heritage of the Sjuhärad region. Only an hour from metropolitan Gothenburg, you can enjoy lakes and rolling woodlands in which quality-assured skiing, cycling and hiking follow one another with the seasons. Combine the natural landscape with Ulricehamn’s charming town centre. Find your perfect view across the lakes and plains and experience West Sweden and the most southerly Official Vasaloppet Centre. Explore the history of the Estates Around the Lake as you cycle through the countryside alongside Lake Åsunden, combined with a stopover at Gällstad.

Cycling and hiking

Ulricehamn offers visitors a broad range of activities; here, cycling, hiking and other fantastic training opportunities are in focus. Ulricehamn has grown in stature as an important and popular destination for training and competition. Here at Lassalyckan, you will find facilities such as one of Sweden’s most modern sports centres.

Eat well, live well

Naturally, we combine activities with splendid accommodation, great food and excellent shopping. Here you will find cosy local shops, the outlet stores of Gällstad and farm shops in the neighbouring countryside.

Ulricehamn is growing as an event destination

We are increasingly hosting major events that attract audiences from large parts of southern Sweden; with everything from the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, which attracted 60,000 visitors and Västgötaloppet race, Smaka på Ulricehamn and more.

Lassalyckan – Sports and Recreation for All

Lassalyckan is a unique facility that provides excellent training opportunities all year round, with tracks and trails open summer and winter. During the winter, the illuminated track is sprayed with artificial snow. We have artificial turf football pitches, one of which is heated and another cleared of snow throughout the winter. We have two indoor ice rinks which are open to the public at certain times of day, seven days a week, as well as a large indoor artificial turf pitch, American football pitches and indoor and outdoor boules courts. There are also newly constructed changing rooms with showers, sauna and heated cabin.

Official Vasaloppet Centre

In recent years, Ulricehamn has placed a great deal of emphasis on developing its sports facilities. These efforts have paid off and the Vasaloppet race organisers have approved Ulricehamn as an Official Vasaloppet Centre, the first such in southern Sweden. Lassalyckan Ulricehamn now offers Vasaloppet skiers and other exercisers quality-assured training opportunities all year round.

Ski Bike Hike

Ski Bike Hike has seven lifts and eight slopes, giving skiers much to rejoice over. Naturally, there is also a park area with its own lift. Efficient snow cannon provide fine skiing conditions after only a few days of cold weather. Children and beginners have their own dedicated skiing area, which has recently been extended with an additional children’s slope with its own lift.

Ulricehamn, The Cinema City

“When you fall in love with a place, you also fall in love with its people,” says filmmaker Colin Nutley. The people, natural surroundings and peace and quiet in which to work have brought Nutley and fellow director and actor Helena Bergström back time and again to work on new projects. “I love Ulricehamn,” said Molly Nutley, daughter of Bergström and Nutley and star of her mother’s film Mending Hugo's Heart, at its world premiere in Ulricehamn. As well as Mending Hugo's Heart, Ulricehamn has been used for the filming of the movie House of Angels ( Änglagård ) and the television series Missing ( Saknad )among others.

“Ulricehamn is like our Cinecittà ( film making town ) , because everything works here,” says Helena Bergström.
