Alaska - Nord Långö
Strömstad

Café & Stone garden

Just off the coast of Strömstad, on the island of Nord Långö, lies a truly unique gem: Alaska, a magical stone and flower garden built in the 1930s by the legendary Hilma Svedahl. After spending 30 years as a gold prospector in America, Hilma returned home with the fruits of her labor and a dream - to create a place like no other. And she did, one stone at a time.

Explore winding paths through temples, towers, arches, bridges, and imaginative sculptures made from stone, shells, and cement - all crafted by Hilma herself.

Museum & History

Don’t miss the Alaska museum, where you can dive deeper into Hilma’s remarkable life. Learn how a fisherman's daughter from Strömstad became a gold-digger in America and returned to build a one-of-a-kind park.

Relax & Recharge

Enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Kosterhavet coast - perfect for a summer swim, sunbathing, or a relaxing walk around the island. And when you’re ready for a break, stop by the summer café. Treat yourself to freshly brewed coffee & homemade waffles, delicious prawn sandwiches, refreshing ice cream and locally brewed Alaska beer.
