Raska- Mina´s Cottage
Tvärred, Ulricehamn

Old cottage

The cottage was inhabited until the 1950s. There is also a well, Raska-Mina’s well.

Cottage and well

The cottage is looked after by Tvärred’s Local History Association and is located by the Sjuhärad Trail, which passes Äsperedsvägen just north of Rölle.

There is a car park a few hundred metres from the cottage, footpath the last bit.

You are welcome inside to see the authentic furnishings from the days when raska-mina lived here.

Rölle Farm is described in maps from the 18th century. The landscape still looks the same as it did then and the surroundings are idyllic with small patches of arable land interspersed between meadows and broadleaf forest.

In the dense broadleaf forests in the northern part of the nature reserve you’ll find beech, ash, alder, birch and elm. In the ravine you’ll find ostrich fern, woodruff, wood stitchwort, giant bellflower, coralroot and yellow wood anemone. The shrubbery contains hazel and there is an area of dense hazel forest, which is at least 250 years old. In the spring, it has a glorious flowering carpet of wood anemone, hepatica, yellow wood anemone, yellow star-of-Bethlehem and wonder violet. If you’re lucky you may even come across the bird’s-nest orchid. This leafy and varied area also has a rich birdlife.
