Northern heritage canal - Culture tour nr. 5

Innovative art, traditional handicrafts, modern design, medieval church paintings, the finest cultivated plants and the wingbeats of history. We have put together six suggested day tours for those who want to explore the art and culture of Dalsland. Tour nr. 5 takes you to through the northern part of the Dalsland canal.

Northern heritage canal

The Dalsland Canal is a cultural heritage destination in its own right, and passes through places that tell the story of life in Dalsland before and after 1868 when Dalsland’s waterways were joined to create a continuous 250 kilometre long canal.

There are numerous sights to see along the canal or within walking distance of it, and we start in the old industrial village of Gustavsfors and its fine museum. We take a detour to the beautiful and secluded lakes of Östra and Västra Silen, and then continue south to the cultural heritage hotspot of Bengtsfors.

In our digital map, you will find map positions and directions to all the places to visit on the tour.
