Grimsås church
Grimsås
Built in white Danish brick and pine
Unlike the other churches in the Sjuhärad region, Grimsås church is one of the newest and was built in 1970.
History
Grimsås church was built from Danish white brick and pine according to designs by the architect, Alf Berne. The artist, Erik Höglund, also collaborated with the architect and was responsible for the artistic decorations in the form of an altar ornament in glass and a window ornament in wood. The style is functionalist with flat roofs and undecorated facades. The various parts of the church such as the altar, pulpit, baptismal font and pews adhere to a unified style. A free-standing belfry was also erected next to the church.
