Holsljunga Church
Holsljunga

A church with a local, artistic feel

Holsljunga church is a mix of old and new and has been renovated no less than five time since it was erected.

About the Church

Holsljunga church was built in 1834 and opened in 1835. The builder was Johan Wennberg from Sandhult.  Due to subsidence in the foundation, the church has been fortified with iron bars.

The church's fixtures and fittings tell many exciting stories. These include Karl XII's Bible from 1703 and old mass vestment from the 19th century.

The fixtures and fittings are inspired by Sjuhärad and the latest colour scheme to decorate the church in 1995 was created by local textile artist Elisabeth Brenner.
