Länghem church
Länghem

Old, beautiful, and unique qualities

Länghem church was built in 1834 and replaced the old one that was built in the early 14th century. It is built in the Karl-Johan style and has been renovated on four occasions.

History

Länghem's church has many features that are beautiful, old and unique. Among other things, the altarpiece, which was painted by the priest's daughter Berta Ahlgren in 1893 and the pulpit which belonged to the old church and was built in Ulricehamn, in 1715. The baptismal font is carved in oak and was made in 1915 by the parish's own carpenters, the Claesson brothers, at Rosenlund in Fägerhult. During the renovations, attempts were also made to preserve the original façade of the church organ, which was built in 1858. The church also has three bells in the tower, the oldest of which dates to the end of the 14th century!
