Överlida Church
Överlida

Mjöbäck-Holsljunga Congregation

The building of the church in Överlida began in 1962 after Mjöbäck congregation had received a donation and from thereon the gifts have kept coming; among others in the shape of two bells and a campanile. On december 22nd 1963, the church was opened once more and the echo of the bells has rung through the village since then.

The building of the church in Överlida began in 1962 after Mjöbäck congregation had been given a donation from farmer Fritz Petterson and from thereon the gifts have kept coming. The architect, Nils Halla whom originated from the village, drew the church. Nils Andersson overlooked the construction process and the bishop, Bo Giertz, was responsible for opening this "gifted church" on december 22nd 1963.
