There are no less than 17 different fish species, while Lake Fegen, which is the only lake in the world home to the Coregonus trybomi, a spring-spawning type of cisco. There is a boat ramp available in the village of Fegan. Due to the lake being part of the Fegen nature reserve it is important to follow the rules and regulations in place.
When can I go fishing?
The peak season is spring and autumn, especially when it comes to pike, but you are welcome fish all year. Fegensjön has a ban on access to some islands and headlands, as some birds, such as the osprey and black-throated loon, nest here. The ban applies from April 1 to July 31, and signs are visible from both land and water. You must not get any closer than 100 metres to the shore line. The maximum speed for boats during this time is 5 knots
Which rules apply?
Trolling and spinning are the most common fishing methods. There is some excellent angling and fly fishing to be head along the shore. A fishing license entitles you to fish with hand-held equipment, up to a maximum of 2 rods and a maximum of 5 angeldon. In order to safeguard the fish stock, you can catch up to 3 pike between 40 and 75 cm in length. The exact rules are available on the fishery conservation area website.
