Storsjön Lake Circuit offers a fantastic wilderness experience

Storsjön Lake Circuit is an 8.8 km trail which offers a fantastic wilderness experience. Part of the path winds along the shoreline, and a with more of it in the woods. Explore the beautiful natural surroundings, and see traces of the cultural landscapes from a bygone era. The lake has a very interesting history, being actually a huge reservoir that was built more than 100 years ago.

Start and end point

The car park at Storsjögården in Borås Municipality. In Viskafors, follow the white signs marked "Naturreservat Storsjön".

What to see

The Storsjö area offers a fantastic sense of wilderness. Hike the trail around the lake. Discover the beautiful countryside and see traces of the old cultural landscape. The track takes you all the way round the lake, occasionally close to the shore, sometimes a little further away. Visit the website for more information about the interesting history of the lake, which was created a little over a century ago and is actually a giant pond. The symbol for the trail is a shuttle.

Services

There are a number of waterside barbecue sites, which are nice to stop at. There is also a permanent camping lean-to for stopping overnight.

Marking:  Marked with a shuttle symbol
Classification: moderate with some hilly parts. This trail is quality-assured. Boardwalks have been erected over the wettest parts, although the trail can become wet in some areas when it rains. If you want to keep your feet dry, we recommend wellies or walking boots.
Public transport: Nearest bus stop is "Ryttaren" at Viskafors, approx 2 km away.
