Vänersborg
The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (Naturskyddsföreningen) is an active organization with numerous events and activities throughout the year. Since 1992, they have been renting Grinnsjötorp Cabin on Hunneberg, and since 2020, the association has been renting Lillåstugan near Lillån from the municipality. Both places invite you to fish or take peaceful, beautiful, and harmonious nature walks.
History/Information about the Association
The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation Vänersborg was established in 1963 and currently has approximately 700 members. Our activities include creating events that build knowledge and commitment to care for and protect our local environment and nature.
Lillå cottage
The Helgarås Cottage is conveniently located between Vänersborg and Vargön, where Lillån River flows. The old cottage was saved from demolition in 1977 and was previously used by the Field Biologists. Now, the association uses it as a "clubhouse" and organizes both hikes and other exciting activities in the area. Read more about Lillåstugan here (swe).
Grinnsjö cottage
The cottage in Grinnsjö Nature Reserve on Hunneberg is leased together with associations in Trollhättan and Grästorp. Extensive work is being done at Grinnsjö to help wild plants and animals thrive in our vicinity. The goal is to restore the old meadow landscape by clearing brush, scything, and allowing animals to graze in the growing meadow. Read more about Grinnsjötorpet here (swe).
At Grinnsjön, you can take a walk, bring a picnic, rent a rowboat from the Royal Hunt Museum for a tranquil trip, or fish (Fishing regulations can be found here).
Event
Every year, we organize Clothes Swap Days, hikes, lectures, and other nature experiences. Check the association's website (swe) or Visit Trollhättan Vänersborg's calendar for more information.
