Welcome to Elk Mountain

At the southern tip of Lake Vänern, just east of Vänersborg, the enchanting table mountains Halleberg and Hunneberg rise approximately 155 meters above sea level. The mountains are separated by a valley about 500 meters wide. Along the dramatic mountain slopes, gnarled oaks thrive, and in the deep ravines, the ground is adorned with carpets of wild garlic.

Both mountains carry a long history, and almost everywhere, you can, find clues to the lives of the people of Västergötland throughout the millennia.
