Christoph & Sebastian Mügge
Trollhättan

Art exhibit at Trollhättan Art Gallery

Artist brothers Christoph and Sebastian Mügge invite you to a darkly humorous end-of-the-world party, inspired by the decadence of the 1920s and projected onto the escapism of our own time.

This site-specific installation combines film, sound, objects, text and drawing into a sensory and extravagant whole, where contemporary escapism, historical parallels and apocalyptic moods come together. Here, a surreal time capsule takes shape, where glittering surfaces collide with a creeping sense of collapse.

Entertainment and seriousness go hand in hand in a work that, with dark humour and playfulness, raises questions about crisis, collective amnesia and the helplessness of a pleasure-seeking society.

Christoph and Sebastian Mügge, based in Skåne, Sweden, were educated at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, respectively. They have worked as a duo since 2017, focusing on large-scale installations using a wide range of techniques.
