Skallsjö Sommarorkester was founded in 2013 and has since grown into a professional ensemble with a well-known name both in Sweden and internationally. The orchestra’s mission and vision are to renew and spread classical music to wider audiences, making everyone feel welcome in the concert hall regardless of background or musical experience.

Every summer since its founding, we have traveled extensively, meeting audiences in all kinds of expected - and unexpected - places. We have brought our music on international adventures to Germany, Norway, and Denmark. We have visited countless small towns in western Sweden, places we especially enjoy performing in because, unlike Gothenburg, Stockholm, Malmö, and other larger cities, they do not have their own resident orchestra performing week after week. We have played under the open summer sky by Lake Vänern, on cliffs in the archipelago, in monasteries and cathedrals, as well as on main streets and in shopping centers.

In 2021, we launched our own chamber music festival as a platform for development and innovation - Evolution Music Festival. Every July, we present a series of concerts in Vänersborg and Trollhättan featuring the orchestra together with guest artists and world-class soloists.
