Viewpoints in Trollhättan and Vänersborg

There are plenty of places in Trollhättan and Vänersborg that offer fantastic views of the area. Look out over Lake Vänern, the Göta river or the open fields outside the cities. Here are our five favorites when it comes to viewpoints.

Kopparklinten (The Copper Cliff) in Trollhättan

Kopparklinten is a real gem for those looking for an incomparable view of both nature and city, 77 meters above sea level. Straight ahead you can see the Olidan hydropower plant and the Innovatum District, to the left you can see the center of Trollhättan and to the right you can follow the waters of the Göta river winding along forested shores. The viewing area has plenty of seating if you want to relax for a while with something delicious to eat.

Älvutsikten (The River View) on Hunneberg

Enjoy the view from Hunneberg's northwest side from Älvutsikten. Here there is a wooden platform with benches and tables where you can enjoy something good to eat while looking out over the area. The view stretches over the northern Göta river between Trollhättan and Vargön and away towards Lake Vänern and Vänersborg. Parking for cars is available along the roadside approx. 200 meters from the platform.

Floutsikten (The Flo View) on Hunneberg

On the north-eastern side of Hunneberg, there is also a wonderful viewpoint called the Floutsikten. There is also a wooden platform here that allows you to look out over the Västgötaslätten flatlands. This fertile and vast flat landscape that stretches south of Lake Vänern towards the east. Predikstolen (The Pulpit) on Halleberg

At the far northern end of Halleberg, you get a magical view of Lake Vänern from a place called Predikstolen or The Pulpit. To get there you need to walk from the car park via marked paths which are quite uneven. Once there, you are met by a high vantage point where the view stretches over Lake Vänern. The cliffs also create a drop down towards Lake Vänern, so remember to move carefully at the edge of the mountain.

The bird watching tower by Dalbobergen, Vänersborg

Just south of the Dalbobergen nature reserve is a popular bird tower that offers a magnificent view of Lake Vänern and Vänersborg. There is parking available nearby and from there you follow a path all the way to the bird tower. To the right you will see central Vänersborg with Sanden and Skräcklan Park and to the left you will look out over Lake Vänern which continues over the horizon.
