European Oyster Opening Championships
Trollhättan

Where the art of oyster opening takes centre stage

Who will claim the European title?- Welcome to the European Oyster Opening Championship 2027!

Europe’s finest oyster openers go head-to-head in a prestigious competition to determine the very best.

Alongside the championship, visitors can enjoy the Food & Crafts Fair and inspirational cooking demonstrations, showcasing local flavours and locally produced food.

At the oyster bar, you can savour both natural and prepared oysters from Havstenssund. In our restaurant area at Lilla NOVA, we offer a variety of hot and cold dishes.

The challenge is to open 30 European flat oysters (Ostrea edulis) as quickly as possible and present them attractively and in perfect condition before a discerning jury. The championship consists of a quarter-final, a semi-final and, finally, a final in which the four remaining competitors battle it out for the European Oyster Opening Champion title.

The first World Oyster Opening Championship was held in Galway, Ireland, in 1954. The first Swedish Championship took place in 1977, making it one of the earliest competitions in Swedish gastronomy.
