Fun Fact: 88:an

Did you know that the classic ice cream 88:an originates from Trollhättan? Trollhätteglass (now GB) launched the popular popsicle in 1964. Back then, it only cost 1 SEK. Some claim that the ice cream is named after building 88 in Innovatum District, while others argue that it got its name from being the 88th product developed. Regardless, if you haven't tasted this Swedish icon yet, you’ll find it in all well-stocked kiosks and stores.

Fun Fact: NOHAB and the golden affair

Innovatum District has it roots in Trollhättan's Mechanical Workshop wich was a manufacturer of turbines for hydraulic power plants. In 1865, the company made its first steam locomotive. In 1916 the company became NOHAB and in 1920, the company received a huge order of 1000 locomotives from Soviet Russia. The payment was sent by a ship, loaded with gold bars, that anchored at the dock outside the factory. Rumor says; only 500 of the comissioned locomotives were actually delivered. But that is another story.
