Walkways in the area

Walk along the spectacular waterfall or the Göta river along very scenic hiking paths along the steep shores. Maps are available below for digital download and are available in print at the tourist office in Trollhättan.

Nils Ericsons Walk
Walk along the Trollhättan locks, one of the most popular destinations in the Trollhättan area. In this unique setting you will get acquainted with three generations of lock systems, created to fit the needs of different generations of ships to make their way past the Trollhättan waterfalls. The walk will take you past important landmarks such as the Canal Museum and the lock systems of 1800, 1844 and 1916.

De Lavals Walk
Walk along the waterfalls and cliffs on the Göta river's west side. During the summer (2020: Due to current restrictions due to the COVID-19 outbreak, release of water in the falls are cancelled until further notice, read more here) the waterfall gates open and you can follow the water as it flows through the once empty riverbed. The walk will take you past other important landmarks such as the Strömkarl bridge, Oscar's bridge, the King's Cave and Trollhättan church.

Vilhelm Hansens Walk
Walk around the Olidan power station, Sweden's first large hydropower station and it's majestic building situated in a magnificent natural scenery. The walk will take you past the remaining buildings of the NOHAB industry, Olidan hydropowerplant and the exhibit at Energy house Insikten.

Edsvidsleden
Walk in the beautiful Göta river valley to the south of Trollhättan in a more challenging walk that is about 15 km long and runs through hilly terrain. Expect a four-five hours walk. The walk starts at Olidan hydropower station and runs through Åkerströms nature reserve and ends by the scenic and exciting paths high above the empty riverbed by the waterfalls.

The Path of Love
Stroll along the Love Path and feel the romantic and cozy atmosphere with forest on one side and the Göta river on the other side in the middle of Älvrummet nature area.

Träbrostigen
One of the new routes extending between the locks to Olidan hydropower station. The walk will take you into the deep forest of the Älvrummet valley.
