Trollhättan
Högtidsveckor med lunchföreläsningar
Möt våra nya professorer och hedersdoktorer/
Meet our new professors and honorary doctors

- 23 nov - Kristina Eriksson, professor i produktionssystem
Crossing boundaries between research, education and industry: transdisciplinary knowledge creation and collaboration (in English)
Technology alone is not enough to address the challenges facing industry and society today. Developing production systems that are human-centric, resilient and sustainable requires us to cross disciplinary boundaries and bring together diverse perspectives, from e.g., technology and engineering to social sciences, leadership and health. This lecture explores how crossing boundaries between research, education and industry can foster transdisciplinary knowledge creation and collaboration, opening new possibilities for addressing complex challenges and shaping the future of production systems. - 24 nov - Maria Spante, professor i Informatik med inriktning mot arbetsintegrerat lärande
Contradictions are engines of creativity (in English)
My research examines situations where established practices no longer suffice. Using Activity Theory and formative interventions in work-integrated learning, I conduct collaborative research with practitioners on contradictions, collective agency and digitalisation. Theory and methods develop through practice, contributing to knowledge-driven societal development grounded in rigorous critical inquiry. - 25 nov - Amir Haj-Bolouri, professor i Informatik med inriktning mot arbetsintegrerat lärande
Meaning in the making: technology, experience, and the spaces we shape (hålls på engelska/in English)
What happens when technology becomes part of how we experience, understand, and act in the world? Drawing on Information Systems research across diverse settings – from integration and working life to immersive virtual environments and the darker spaces of the Internet – this lecture explores how meaning emerges through our encounters with technology. It considers how technologies can enable, constrain, and transform human experience and the spaces in which we learn, work, interact, and act – and how these spaces, in turn, are shaped through human practices and technological possibilities. Moving between philosophy of technology and practice, understanding and design, empirical insights from different research projects, the lecture reflects on a question that has followed me throughout my research: how can we understand and shape our relations with technology and the world, and the meanings, experiences, and spaces that emerge through these relations? - 26 nov - Isabelle Choquet, professor i mekanik
- 27 nov - Sudha Ramasamy, professor i automation
From traditional automation to intelligent flexible automation (in English)
This talk explores the development of industrial automation from traditional systems to intelligent and flexible manufacturing. It highlights research in robot path planning, multi-agent systems, robot safety, digital twins, virtual commissioning, and intelligent robotic grasping. The talk explains how these technologies can help manufacturing systems adapt to changing needs, improve safety, and support human–robot collaboration. It also presents future opportunities for developing more flexible, sustainable, and intelligent manufacturing systems. -
30 nov - Anna Karin Olsson, professor i Företagsekonomi med inriktning mot arbetsintegrerat lärande
From smart technology to smart organizations: the human side of industrial transformation (hålls på engelska/in English)
Digitalization, artificial intelligence, and automation are transforming industries and reshaping the future of work. Drawing on research conducted in close collaboration with industry, this lecture explores the human side of industrial transformation, focusing on how learning, leadership, and organizational readiness shape how organizations navigate technological change for a smarter future.
- 1 dec - Anders Fundin, professor i industriell ekonomi
Sustainable transformations in resilient operations – what does it mean and how do values come into play?
In this inaugural lecture, Anders Fundin takes us on a journey through his research into what makes organizations thrive in a time of constant change. Drawing on global measures of employee engagement, he shows how we are moving away from old hierarchies toward more flexible, network-based ways of working – and what this demands of us as employees and leaders. At the heart of the lecture lies a simple but crucial question: is it control and fear of mistakes, or trust and learning, that shape our culture? The lecture shows how values leave their mark on everyday behaviors, and offers the audience concrete reflections on where their own organization can begin its journey toward a more sustainable and resilient future.
(hålls på engelska/in English) - 2 dec - Vivek Patel, professor i svetsteknologi
Friction stir welding: sustainable and efficient joining in manufacturing (in English)
Discover how friction stir welding uses a rotating tool to join metals without melting them. This open lecture introduces an innovative technology with the potential to reduce energy use, material waste, and environmental impact. Focusing on lightweight aluminium structures, we explore its benefits for industries such as transport and aerospace. Showing on research at University West, the lecture explains how welding conditions influence joint strength and quality, while highlighting practical challenges and future opportunities.
