The Abecita Pop art and Photo museum
Borås
The Abecita Pop art and Photo museum in Borås, West Sweden, exhibits international photography, pop art and graphics from Europe and the US, as well as Nordic textile art. New exhibitions are mixed with the museum's permanent works by the founders of pop art - Andy Warhol and Richard Hamilton.
Pop art and tailor-made artifacts
The Abecita Pop art and Photo museum's unique collection of art is centred on the pop art breakthrough of the 1960s and features prominent works from every decade until the present.
Experience iconic works by the greatest artist names of modern times, including Warhol, Rauschenberg, Bourgeois, Hockney, Bacon and Hamilton. The collection contains everything from Ellsworth Kelly's more minimalist art to Jim Dine's bold color explosions.
The museum's permanent exhibition includes about 500 works of award-winning Nordic textile art that are displayed in a traditional industrial environment from the time when 300 seamstresses sat in long rows and sewed underwear.
Photo art, cafe and design shop
The Abecita museum is famous for its different photo exhibitions by Swedish and international photographers, in addition to the permanent collection of pop art and graphics. The museum arranges lecture evenings, beginners’ courses and full day workshops with famous photographers for photography enthusiasts.
