1:00 pm – Lucia Traditions in Western Sweden
A talk by museum director Peter Johansson in Swedish. The first traces of Lucia celebrations resembling those of today can already be seen in the mid-18th century. In his talk, Peter Johansson will explain how the tradition of celebrating Lucia spread from manor houses and farmsteads in western Sweden to become a televised celebration enjoyed throughout the country.
3:00 pm – Star Singing with Bokenäsets Ådra
As part of a long-standing tradition, the museum welcomes the musical group Bokenäsets Ådra, who will perform Stjärnspel, a programme of traditional folk Christmas songs from earlier times. In those days, young people dressed in a wide variety of costumes would travel from farm to farm carrying a star and singing Christmas songs.
All programme activities are included in the admission fee. Adults: SEK 70 or annual pass. Admission is free for children under 20 and students.
