Get a flavour of Christmas in the countryside by visiting one of the traditional markets held in quaint towns across the region. Potter around rustic market stalls selling arts and crafts and indulge in scrumptious festive food.

Christmas market at Liseberg

With half a million yearly visits, Liseberg Amusement Park is Sweden’s most popular Christmas market. No wonder. It is a truly magical place for all ages, especially during the coldest months when the entire park is transformed in to a beautiful winter wonderland. Here, you can dine at the high quality restaurants, meet with Santa and go on the winter-open carousels.

Christmas Market at Gunnebo House and Gardens

Traditional Christmas market with Swedish crafts and foods at Gunnebo House. Gunnebo House and Gardens is one of Sweden's finest 18th century estates, beautifully located between the lakes Stensjön and Rådasjön in the town of Mölndal, about 10 minutes south of Gothenburg. The exhibitors can be found in the main building and its two wings. The coffee shop and restaurant are open all day, and hot drinks and snacks are also served outside.

Christmas Market at Torpa Stenhus

Torpa Stenhus is about 1 hour 20 minutes journey from Gothenburg. Here, you can experience a genuine old-fashioned Christmas atmosphere. We have carefully decorated the old barn, with straw, Christmas trees and lit candles. The odd Santa peaks out from the many nooks and crannies, and the craftsmen are lined up with their beautiful wares. A perfect opportunity to purchase all your Christmas gifts. We serve coffee with home-baked cakes, the traditional Swedish spiced wine, glögg, and delicious Christmas platters. The castle is open with guided tours, and we hold an Advent service with plenty of festive spirit.

Christmas Market at Nääs Fabriker

Come and get a foretaste of Christmas during the first weekend of advent, with experiences, delicious treats, shopping and activities. The whole area around Nääs Fabriker is characterized by attention to detail, and a respectful conservation of the original charm of this former cotton mill. It is a lively destination that has a lot to offer in the form of trendy boutiques, a hotel, restaurant, café and deli.

Christmas Market at Tofta Mansion

Tofta Farm is situated about 30 minutes north of Gothenburg, just outside Kungälv. Here you can get into the Christmas spirit in the old grain store. Craftsmen and food producers display and sell their products. On offer are for example ceramics, woodwork, wrought-iron goods, silver jewellery and various textile products. If you're interested in food, you can buy mustard, marzipan, different jams and marmalades, game, home-baked bread and much more. In Tofta Distillery you'll find a Christmas Café with delicious home-baked cakes, sandwiches, light meals, and a genuine Christmas spirit. Pony rides are available for children.

Christmas Market at Nordens Ark

Old-fashioned Christmas celebrations, and Christmas market, including Christmas carols and dancing around the Christmas tree, a visit from Father Christmas and Christmas trees, crafts etc. to buy. Tombolas and much more. In the café you can enjoy a Christmas meal and the traditional Swedish Christmas drink, glögg, among other things. Nordens Ark, which is about 1.5 hours north of Gothenburg, is a nature park of generous proportions, with a diverse flora, where you can see threatened animal species from all over the world. Everything from old Scandinavian breeds to wild animals and exotic species from places with a climate similar to that in Scandinavia.
