Vinga – the westernmost island in the archipelago

Vinga lies on the edge of Gothenburg’s outer archipelago and was home to pilots and lighthouse keepers until 1974. Vinga Events’ activities are held in the original 19^th-century buildings in "Fyrfolkets By" – the ”lighthouse people’s village” where lighthouse assistants, lighthouse keepers and the island’s teacher lived. One of Sweden’s best-loved poets and musicians, Evert Taube, grew up here, where his father was the master lighthouse keeper between 1889 and 1905.
